Ten artists working in pairs–five working two-dimensionally and five working three dimensionally–drew inspiration from a biblical theme. Although the parameters for individual interpretation were left wide open, the exhibition was an exploration of one artist’s response to another’s using The Ten Commandments as a catalyst. Participants combined varying degrees of literal and symbolic imagery with an equally diverse application of media and style. From large-scale paintings to small clay figures, the program was engaging.
Artists included Anne Baker (Virginia Beach, VA), Betsy DiJulio (Virginia Beach, VA), Donna Iona Drozda (Virginia Beach, VA), K. Dianne Hottenstein (Chesapeake, VA), Solomon Isekeije (Virginia Beach, VA), Lynne Norwood Lofton (Chagrin Falls, OH), Genez Malebranche (Virginia Beach, VA), Richard Nickel (Norfolk, VA), Robert Sites (Norfolk, VA) and Bill Wagner (Norfolk, VA).
