In this program, Will Corr (Holmes Beach, Florida) and Cece
Wheeler (Hampton, Virginia) presented collections of
new work.
From small paintings to large-scale mixed media abstractions,
Will Corr’s work touches on historical and social iconography.
Often taking a narrative or documentary approach, his work tells
stories of adventure, emotion and personal devotion. Corr’s
approach to making art is process oriented; the concept is merely
a point from which to begin. Combinations and layers of materials
from traditional oil paint to industrial asphalt are spontaneously
added to the surface and contribute to the dynamics of the final
composition.
Cece Wheeler’s work is also process driven. Through her
photograms and alternative forms of printmaking, she explores
and uncovers the quiet beauty of everyday objects. Taken from
their original context, simple floral forms are isolated. Hard
edges are then softened by paper selection, computer manipulation
and light producing ethereal and sensual images.
