The Visual Arts Center, TCC at Olde Towne, Portsmouth, presented the 34th Annual Student Art Show
March 27 through April 28, 2005.
Over 250 works by more than 150 students comprised this year's show. Media included drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, computer generated imagery, animation and mixed media. Works were completed for Visual Arts Center (VAC) classes since May 2004 and represented program courses in Fine Arts,
Studio Arts, Photography, Graphic Design, Pottery and Glassblowing.
Ken Daley, Professor of Art, Old Dominion University , Norfolk , was this year's judge. Mr. Daley presented $4,535 in recognition of excellence at the Awards Presentation, Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Commodore Theatre, 421 High Street, Portsmouth. The Opening Reception followed the Awards Presentation at noon at the Visual Arts Center.
Complementary programming for the exhibition included illustrated lectures by Visiting Art Historian Dr. Linda McGreevy and Visiting Artist Mr. Peter Eudenbach. On April 5, 2005, Dr. Linda McGreevy, Professor of Art History, Old Dominion University, Norfolk , presented Toward a New Biography:
The Art of Kathe Kollwitz . On Thursday, April 14, 2005, Mr. Peter Eudenbach, Lecturer in Sculpture, Old Dominion University , Norfolk, presented The Sculpture and Video of Peter Eudenbach.
