The exhibition, Virginia Van Horn: Celestial Navigation, took place at the Visual Arts Center, TCC at Olde Towne, Portsmouth, Virginia, September 16 through October 31, 2007.

Celestial Navigation was a site-specific installation that featured sculptural works by Norfolk native, Virginia Van Horn. In the exhibition, Van Horn, who is known for her perfectly proportioned horses, expanded her subject matter to include birds, bats and dogs. The artist used commonplace materials such as paper towels, fiberglass, wood and chicken wire in order to bring the forms to life. Created between 2003 and 2007, Van Horn explored the complex relationship between man and beast, emphasizing their shared traits.
