Service Learning Student Evaluation Requirements
Student Evaluation Requirements
As an integral part of the learning experience, the student will be regularly
evaluating what he or she is doing. In some instances, the student is required
to maintain a reflective journal outlining experiences, feelings, key insights,
perceptions, revelations and accomplishments. The student may request your
comments.
The student will also be required to keep a Log of Hours that must be verified
by the student's supervisor. A copy of the form is included for your records.
Your evaluation of the student is extremely important. A sample Student Progress
Report form is also included, but the student will provide you with the actual
evaluation forms and the dates they are due.
The number of times you are requested to evaluate the student will depend
upon the nature of the assignment; however, a mid-semester and final evaluation
are usually required. Timely completion of the evaluation form is important
as the student is receiving academic credit based on your evaluation. Please
give one copy to the student, one copy to the faculty and one to the Service-Learning
Office (can be faxed to 822-2239), and keep one copy for your own records.
Once again, thank you for your participation in The Urban Experience Service-Learning
Project at Tidewater Community College. Here's to a successful partnership
between your agency and our institution!
