Disability Services Admissions Process

 

Students with disabilities who wish to take classes at Tidewater Community College should take the following steps: 

  1. Submit College Application ~ Complete an application for admission to the college and submit it to the Admissions Center. 

  2. Make Counseling Appointment ~ Make an appointment with  the Disability Services Counselor, at least 45 days before classes begin.

  3. Meet with Counselor ~ Meet with the Disability Services Counselor.You will need to Bring documentation of your disability to the meeting with the counselor. This documentation may be in the form of a report, or letter from your doctor. Please see the  Guidelines for Documentation for specific information needed.

  4. Schedule Placement Testing : If you require accommodations when you take the placement test, you must provide documentation described above.

  5. Contact Counselor to Review Scores ~ Meet  with the Disability Services Counselor to review your Placement Test  scores, to select courses, to plan your academic program, etc. 

  6. Enroll for Classes ~ The Disability Services Counselor will help you with this process.
