      2. Introduction to Solving Equations: absolute value, substituting and evaluating, solving using properties, translating into words.
      3. Problem Solving:  word problems involving consecutive integers, number relationships, complementary angles, and mixtures.
      4. Inequalities:  graphing and solving inequalities, applications.
      5. Exponents:  product rule, power rule, integer exponents, quotient rule.
      6. Formulas:  working with commonly used formulas to solve for an unknown and to isolate a designated variable.
      7. Polynomials:  collecting like terms, descending order, degree, operations.
      8. Factoring:  greatest common factor, factor by grouping, trinomials,  difference of squares, perfect square trinomials.
      9. Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring:  zero-factor property, applications.
      10. Rationals:  fundamental property of rational expressions, LCD, operations, simplifying complex fractions, solving rational equations.
      11. Applications  of Rationals:  word problems involving number relations, rates and times, joint work, economics, and variation.
      12. Measurement:  conversions within and between US and metric measurements, making reasonable estimates.
      13. Scientific Notation:  converting between standard and scientific notation, performing operations, significant digits, applications.

Here some related Geometry usually covered in begining algebra courses

      1. Geometry I:  terminology, lines, angles, squares and rectangles.
      2. Geometry II: parallelograms, trapezoids, triangles, circles.
      3. Geometry III: volume, Pythagorean Theorem, similar triangles.
