Facilitated learning activities address the real-life challenges you encounter in today’s nonprofit workplace and draw on input from the instructor and other course participants. Barbara Ford, founder and executive director of EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program states, "Taking classes through the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence has enabled me to carve out time for learning with my nonprofit peers. The experiences shared as well as the valuable information obtained through dynamic instructors is something that I truly value. In this day and age when all nonprofit agencies struggle to survive, I am learning new skills that will enhance my work and build a stronger organization in the community."
Individuals completing any combination of one-and two-day courses equaling 10 continuing education units (CEUs) earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Participants are not required to pursue the certificate and may choose to concentrate on areas specific to the needs of their organization and/or career.
In addition to high-quality, affordable courses, the Academy offers a meeting place for nonprofit professionals to share ideas and strategies and build relationships that last beyond the classroom. Linda Riddle founder and executive director of Alternative Resource Center for Student Wellness has these
comments "Attending classes at the Academy has given me the opportunity to
enrich my mind professionally and personally. Not only is the instruction
beneficial; it is the extension of ideas outside the classroom through
networking that has expanded our nonprofit missions and that is "People
Helping People" after all it's all in the connections."
The Academy for Nonprofit Excellence is underwritten by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation and administered by Tidewater Community College.
