Registration

The Academy For Nonprofit Excellence offers courses designed to provide leaders of nonprofit organizations with an opportunity to enhance their leadership and management capabilities.

Individuals completing any combination of one and two-day courses equaling 10 continuing education units (CEU) earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. For the fall 2006 semester, seven courses (3 one-day and 4 two-day courses) are being offered.

Classes are filling quickly so you are urged to send your paid registration promptly.

Registration Policy:

To enroll in a course, individuals must submit a completed course registration form and tuition payment. Seats cannot be reserved or held upon receipt of a registration form that doesn't include payment. To ensure opportunity for active learning, class size is limited to 24 participants and registrations are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is encouraged.

Fax - Send a facsimile copy of the registration form and credit card information to (757) 314-2356, attention Lillian Bailey.

Mail - Send the completed form along with payment to:

Phone - Call Vickie Parker at (757) 822-1159 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday with information requested on the registration form. You will need to provide credit card information at this time.

Payment:

Each one-day course costs $60 per person.  Each two-day class costs $85 per person.  Checks, money orders, and credit cards (both VISA and MasterCard) are accepted. Checks and money orders should be made payable to Tidewater Community College.

Refunds:

A refund or class change will be made if a written request is received in the Division of Workforce Development three (3) working days before the class begins. The Comptroller, Commonwealth of Virginia, will issue all refund checks.

Confirmation and Directions:

Approximately ten days prior to the start of a course, a reminder email with class location, driving directions, and parking instructions will be sent to you. If you have not received this email within five days of the course start date, contact program specialist, Vickie Parker, at (757) 822-1159 to ensure your registration request was received and processed. Driving directions to the various campuses may be obtained at www.tcc.edu/welcome/locations/index.htm.

Deadline:

Class size is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes are filling quickly so you are urged to send your paid registration promptly. Please note that registration cannot be processed without payment.

Waiting List:

If you request a course that is full, you will be contacted to see if you would like to enroll in another course or be placed on the waiting list for that course. If you choose to be placed on the waiting list you will be notified if a space becomes available. Individuals will be contacted in the order in which they were placed on the waiting list.

Inclement Weather Policy:

In the case of inclement weather, the Academy will follow the Tidewater Community College guidelines. If the college closes, courses will be canceled. If the college operates on a delayed schedule, our courses will adhere to that schedule. Information about college closings in the event of inclement weather or other emergencies will be broadcast  on many area TV and radio stations and the college's website at: http://www.tcc.edu. You may also call the program office at 757-822-1170, and listen to the outgoing voicemail message for updates.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs):

One CEU will be awarded for each two-day course completed. For each one-day course completed, one-half (.5) CEU will be awarded. Participants earning 10 CEUs will receive a Certificate of Nonprofit Management.
