ARTS 1002 Introduction to Encaustic Painting

Introduction to Encaustic Painting workshop will explore the seductive medium of encaustic paint.  The paint, made up of beeswax, pigment, and resin, is melted and applied warm to a wooden substrate and bonded with heat gun.  This ancient medium with examples thousands of years ago, has many new contemporary possibilities that will be explored.  Experience is not necessary and participants can expect to: learn a lot, create a couple of pieces during the workshop, and have fun.  Old shirt and apron suggested.  Materials and supplies will be provided.
