Landlord training program:

How to Become a Successful Landlord (real 1013)

Course Description

Most landlords and real estate investors know that owning rental property offers one of the best opportunities to build a steady stream of income and gain long term appreciation of property values.  The question is how to go from purchasing a rental property to actually renting your property and managing the day-to-day activities required of a landlord.

Becoming a successful landlord requires a thorough understanding and appreciation of the rewards, the risks and the responsibilities of owning and managing rental property.

Tidewater Community College's 15 hour Landlord Training Program: How to Become a Successful Landlord, with Certificate of Achievement, offers landlords and prospective landlords the tools and the knowledge to not only manage their rental property smoothly and competently, but to protect their long term interest by becoming a confident, reputable and successful landlord.

Topics covered in the 15 hour Landlord Training Program include:

  • Investment property
  • The Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act
  • Fair Housing
  • Local housing requirements and inspections
  • Marketing your home for rent
  • Tenant screening
  • The Lease
  • Security deposits
  • Move-in and move-out inspections
