COAST GUARD-APPROVED TRAINING COURSES
GMDSS
(Global Maritime Distress and Safety System)
This 80-hour, two-week certification course is for Licensed
Deck or Radio Officers wishing to obtain their STCW GMDSS
certification and obtain a GMDSS FCC License. TCC is a USCG-approved

ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting
Aids)
This 5-day course is STCW approved and teaches the basics
of ARPA including the principle types of ARPA systems, the
possible risks of over-reliance on ARPA and setting up and
maintaining ARPA displays. The curriculum consists of classroom
instruction, ARPA manufacturer instructional videotapes
and student hands on training on both our Raytheon RAYCAS
V and Racal-Decca 1690 ARPA's. This course also qualifies
you to renew your radar observer endorsement. See the ARPA

Master
Not More Than 100 Gross Tons
This course meets the U.S. Coast Guard requirements to issue
a Master Not More Than 100 Gross Tons license. If you satisfactorily
complete this course you will be issued a certificate which
you may present to the Coast Guard. You will not have to
test with the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard has other requirements
which you will have to submit prior to receiving your license,
but not prior to taking the class, such as a physical exam,
first aid and CPR, at least 720 days experience on the water,

Upgrade OUPV to
Not More Than 100 Gross Tons
This course meets the U.S. Coast Guard requirements to upgrade
from an OUPV License to a Master Not More Than 100 Gross
Tons license. We have day and evening classes. See the 100

Radar Observer Courses
These courses meet the Coast Guard requirement that certain
individuals must successfully complete a Coast Guard approved
radar observer training course in order to receive an endorsement
as Radar Observer. We have both original and renewal courses.
Upon successful completion of our course you will be issued
a certificate which you simply present to the Coast Guard
who will then place a radar observer endorsement on your license.

Flashing Light
This course meets the Coast Guard requirement that all individuals
applying for either an original or upgraded deck license
over 1600 gross tons on ocean or coastwise waters must pass
a signaling examination (flashing light). Upon successful
completion of our course you will be issued a certificate
which you simply present to the Coast Guard to meet the
flashing light requirement for your particular license.
Assistance
Towing
This course is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. It is a
one-day course which will give you a towing endorsement
on your license.
