Maritime Welding Program
The Maritime Welding Program allows a new employee or high school student to learn welding processes, from the ground up. Introductory courses include instruction in basic mathematics needed for welding, fire watch requirements, and certification. Basic welding symbols and terminology, drawing identification, and preheat and interpass requirements are also taught to the students.
The courses provide a student with the background, knowledge, and training in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes, as well as Stud Gun Welding, Carbon Arc and Oxygen/Acetylene Torch Cutting processes.
Each process is a separate module, thereby allowing the student to attain the background, knowledge, and training in one process or all processes. Each course is designed to meet the industry standards of NAVSEA training as well as to prepare the student for AWS certification - leading to a career in welding.
