Kathryn
Hornsby –
President.
Kathryn Hornsby will serve as program Chair for the
2004 Conference at Lake Lanier. She has served as the SACCR Georgia
State Coordinator since 1997 and as Member-at-Large since 2001.
Kathryn is Manager of Accountability and Institutional Effectiveness
for the Technical College System of Georgia. In this role, her major
responsibilities are managing Georgia's Performance Accountability
System and the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education
grant. Previously she was an Educational Analyst for the Georgia
Council on Vocational Education and a secondary classroom teacher.
Kathryn has been a member of numerous statewide data and evaluation
committees. She is an associate member of the National Association
of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortium,
a member of the Association of Career and Technical Education, and
a member of the Association of Institutional Research (AIR). She
received her Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education from
Auburn University and her Master of Arts in Sociology from Georgia
State University. Currently, she is working towards a Ph.D. in Higher
Education at Georgia State University. In her copious free time
she enjoys traveling, hiking, and mystery novels. |

| Debbie
Goodman – President-Elect and Program Chair.
Debbie
is Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Southwest Georgia
Technical College (SWGTC), a position she has held since 1994. In
this role, her major responsibilities are initiating and managing
SWGTC’s Institutional Effectiveness Model and its components;
and coordinating the preparation of the College’s fact book,
strategic plan, annual plan, Perkins Grant, and SWGTC Performance
Accountability System (PAS). She also coordinates staff development
at SWGTC. Debbie has directed institutional self-studies for COC
and COE and has served on several accreditation visiting teams for
the two agencies. Following team member training at the last SACCR
conference, Debbie served on an on-site team for a technical college
reaffirmation of accreditation. Debbie holds an Ed.D. in Higher
Education Administration from Oklahoma State University. She worked
previously in higher education at Rogers State College, Claremore,
Oklahoma and at Troy State University in Dothan, Alabama. She is
currently serving as member-at-large for GAIRPAQ (Georgia Association
of Institutional Research, Planning, Assessment, and Quality). She
serves on the Data Committee of the Georgia Department of Technical
and Adult Education: PAS Peer Group, an organization she previously
served as chair.
Debbie is a
long-time member of SACCR, attending most SACCR annual meetings
since 1994 and has presented at past meetings. Debbie lives at the
Big Barn Cottage on Pebble Hill Plantation outside of Thomasville,
GA with her husband Wallace and chocolate laboratory retriever Molly.
Wallace is the general manager of the 3,000 acre Plantation. Pebble
Hill consists of an historic home, now open as a house museum housing
incredible sporting art and collections, various stables and out-buildings,
and property. The Plantation is owned by Pebble Hill Foundation
and is open to the public as a major tourist attraction in the State
of Georgia. The web site is www.pebblehill.com. In her spare time
Debbie serves on boards of local organizations: Halcyon Home and
the Boys and Girls Club. She enjoys interior design, landscaping,
and reading. |

Jonnie
Blair – Immediate Past-President.
Jonnie Blair,
a relative newcomer to SACCR, became President of SACCR at the
end of the annual business meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He has spent thirty years in higher education both as a faculty
member and administrator. His experience includes work in institutional
research, assessment and long range planning, institutional administration,
business affairs, personnel management, teaching and academic
and business computing. He has been a successful fundraiser and
administrator for federal, state and private sector funding.
Jonnie came to Hopkinsville Community College in 2002 where he
serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. From 1997-2002
he served as Director of Planning and Research at Somerset Community
College where he installed an objective based PME system and trained
all administrators in MBO, planning, and management. He also authored
a planning manual and a fact book for the college. Jonnie assisted
Somerset Community College in completing a successful SACS Self-Study.
The College received only six recommendations, and no recommendations
for planning, research, or institutional effectiveness.
Jonnie holds degrees from Morehead State University, University
of Kansas, and the University of Kentucky with concentrations
in biology and higher education administration. He studied planning
and research at the National Laboratory for Higher Education.

Gwen
Polk Aldridge, Secretary.
Gwen Polk Aldridge, Secretary, is serving a second year on the board.
She presently serves as the Director of Institutional Planning and
Research at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia,
Mississippi. Prior to taking this position in January, 2002, she taught
mathematics. She places great value in the resources and networking
opportunities of such an organization as SACCR, and is happy to be
given the opportunity to serve as the association’s secretary
for the coming year.
Gwen has served as Vice-President and as President of the Mississippi
Collegiate Mathematics Association. For two consecutive years she
made presentations for the Mississippi Academy of Sciences and has
also presented for the Mississippi Collegiate Mathematics Association.
The Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation has recently
accepted for publication her paper on “Bayesian Bootstrap Methods
for Developmental Studies”.
Gwen attended Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where
she earned a B.S.E. degree in Mathematics, and the University of Mississippi
in Oxford, Mississippi, where she earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in
Mathematics, with area of concentration in Statistics. She lives with
her husband and children in Batesville, Mississippi. |

Stephanie
King – Treasurer.
As Assistant Research Professor at the Research and Curriculum Unit
for Workforce Development and Vocational Education at Mississippi
State University, Stephanie has expertise in the development and revision
of vocational curriculum and assessments. A talented and dedicated
curriculum and assessment specialist, Stephanie chose to become involved
with this aspect of education because she is genuinely interested
in improving the lives of Mississippi’s residents. It is her
belief that building human capital begins with a quality education
that will prepare Mississippians to enter the world of work in this
ever-changing global society. Stephanie
was Outstanding Senior in Biology at Mississippi University for
Women where she earned a B.A. in Biology. She graduated from Mississippi
State University with an M.S. in Animal Physiology and a Ph.D. in
Community College Leadership. An experienced and award-winning educator,
Stephanie has taught biological sciences, including anatomy and
physiology, at the community college level. She has also been a
project investigator on various scientific research initiatives
for NASA, USDA, and the EPA.
A native Mississippian,
Stephanie was born in Kosciusko and grew up on a small farm near
Mathiston, where she and her husband now live. Her interest in agriculture
and animals is evident through her active participation in 4-H and
the many accolades she has claimed, which include public speaking
awards, horticulture projects, and being chosen Mississippi’s
Lamb Sweetheart. Stephanie was also recognized by the Mississippi
Legislature as the HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day: Working
for Academic Excellence) student of the year from Mississippi University
for Women and HEADWAE faculty of the year for Wood College.
Stephanie is
honored to have been elected Treasurer for the Southeastern Association
of Community College Research. She believes that community colleges
can and do play a significant role in educating today’s students
and that continued research is vital for community colleges to best
serve their students. She hopes to provide support to that effort
by serving the Association in the Treasurer role. |

Sue
Minchew, Member at Large (Membership
Coordinator).
Sue Minchew, is Interim
Dean for the College of Education and Professor of Education at Mississippi
State University. She has taught at Mississippi State for 34 years
and received both the John Gresham Master teacher award and the Phi
Delta Kappa award for the Outstanding Teacher in the College of Education.
she also received the outstanding dissertation award in 1997 from
the Mid South Educational Research Association. She serves as the
NCATE coordinator, and successfully led the efforts for the re-accreditation
of the College in 2002. She has been responsible for the creation
of a Teacher Education Council that includes Arts and Sciences Faculty,
Education faculty and K-12 teachers; the development and maintenance
of the College assessment system; the development of an online evaluation
for student teachers and the creation of a course in writing for graduate
students with weak writing skills. Sue has also been responsible for
the mapping of the alignment of K-12 standards with the undergraduate
teacher education curriculum through the STEP (Standards Based Teacher
Education Project} grant which she directs. Sue
will work with all State Coordinators to make SACCR more visible
and to increase membership in the organization. She will help the
secretary and the treasurer to extend membership opportunities to
new members and membership renewals for former members. |

Debra
West Risley, Member at Large (Program Assistant).

Debra, Member at Large, has been a member of SACCR for the past
three years and served as Local Arrangements chair for the Hot Springs
conference in 2002. She has worked in various positions in community
colleges over the past 12 years, including serving as Assistant
to the Academic Vice-President, Director of Admissions, Registrar,
and Director of Institutional Research. She is currently the Director
of Enrollment Management at Mid-South Community College in West
Memphis, AR.
Debra is a graduate of East Arkansas Community College (A.A.) and
the University of Memphis (B.S. in Physical Science, M.S. in Geography).
Publications include Measurements of Mean Daily Solar Radiation
for Memphis, Tennessee, 1982-1987, published in the October 1988
Journal of the Tennessee Academy of Science, Vol. 63, No. 4, and
A Field Test of an Electrical-Capacitance Method for Measuring Soil-Water
Content, published in Physical Geography, Vol. 18, No. 1, 1997.
She recently completed the coursework for the Ph.D. in Community
College Leadership at Mississippi State University.
She was selected by Mid-South Community College and the National
Institute for Staff and Organizational Development to be a recipient
of a 1998 NISOD Excellence Award for outstanding contributions to
teaching and learning. She is the incoming president of the Arkansas
Institutional Research Organization (AIRO), and her other professional
memberships include the National Council for Research and Planning,
the Southern Association of Institutional Research, the Society
for College and University Planning, and the Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Her goal as Member at Large will be to provide assistance as needed
to the program chair in order to make the 2004 SACCR Conference
the best yet. |

| Edith
(Edie) Carter, Newsletter Editor. 
Edie will, once again, serve as the Editor for the SACCR Newsletter,
a duty she has performed for more years than she cares to remember.
A long time
member of SACCR, Edie received her Ph. D. in Educational Research
from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia
Tech). When not applying the blue pencil to the SACCR newsletter,
Edie serves as Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Radford
University.

Annabelle
Lewis, Communications Chair.
Dr. Lewis is a graduate of Concord College, East
Tennessee State University and Colorado State University. She currently
serves as Director of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness at
Augusta Technical College in Augusta, GA. She spent the last 16 years
in various positions in postsecondary education. These professional
experiences include: Vice President of Instruction at Chattahoochee
Technical College; Campus Dean at Coconino Community College in Arizona;
and, District Dean and Campus Dean at Mohave Community College in
Arizona. Dr.
Lewis has been a member and officer of numerous professional and
community organizations including: Work Force Recruitment and Job
Training Council with the Arizona Department of Commerce; Kingman
Arizona Airport Authority, Inc.; Arizona Peace Officers Standards
and Training Board; Arizona Academic and Occupational Administrators
Associations; and, lifetime member of American Association of University
Women.

Randy
Dean, Database Chair.
Randy Dean, from the Georgia Department of Technical
and Adult Education and data manager for that office will serve as
the Data Base Coordinator for the organization. In this capacity he
will bring together all the data files for the organization. |

Lisa
Kleiman, Web Master.

Lisa Kleiman has served as director of institutional effectiveness
at Tidewater Community College since 1999. Her career began at TCC
in 1979 as a research associate in the Office of Institutional Research.
She progressed as coordinator of institutional research, and then
director. In addition to her current duties heading the Office of
Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, she recently served as interim
grants director for the college.
She holds a bachelor of science in business administration and a master
of arts in economics from Old Dominion University.
Ms. Kleiman is a longtime member of the Southeastern Association of
Community College Researchers (SACCR) and has served as chair of local
arrangements for the 28th annual conference held in Norfolk, an at-large
member on the SACCR Board, SACCR Virginia state coordinator, and SACCR
webmaster for the last five years. |

Ned
Lovell, Senior Advisor.
Ned, Past President, and an active member and supporter of SACCR
activities for the past nine years, served as Local Arrangements
Chair for the SACCR Conference at Whispering Woods in Olive Branch,
Mississippi. As President-Elect he put together an outstanding program
for the Hot Springs Conference. When Jonnie Blair became ill this
summer, Ned, as President, took on the additional responsibility
of Program Chair. He put together an outstanding program for the
St. Petersburg conference. Ned recently retired from his position
as professor and department head. Now that he has emeritus status
he is playing a little more golf and working half-time with the
University.
