Patricia A. Goodman - PresidentPatricia A. Goodman

As president-elect, Patricia Goodman took over the reins of SACCR at the end of the annual business meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida. She currently serves as the Dean of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness at Gateway Community and Technical College in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. Prior to coming to Gateway, Patricia served in various roles at Big Sandy Community and Technical College including Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Coordinator of Institutional Research, PeopleSoft Specialist for Process Improvement, and Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator for Information Technology.

Patricia earned an A.A.S. with a specialization in Business Management, a B.S. with a specialization in Accounting, and a M.B.A. with a specialization in Computer Information Systems. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership at Walden University. She is a member of the Kentucky Association for Institutional Research and the American Association of Women in Community Colleges. Patricia has delivered multiple presentations on student access and building a culture of evidence and co-authored an article on “Student Success through Policy and Practice,” that was published in the August/September 2005 issue of the Community CollegeJournal.

Patricia is a strong advocate for the goals of SACCR. Her goals as President include: (1) increasing membership in SACCR, and (2) working with SACCR members at the state and institutional level to build increased networking and sharing of resources and expertise that can be integrated into SACCR at the regional level.

Nancy Beaver – Program Chair and President Elect
Nancy Beaver currently serves as the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research and Accreditation Officer at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, Georgia. She has been at the college for over twenty years in various roles. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and an M.Ed. from the University of Georgia. She is a member of the Association for Institutional Research and the Georgia Association of Institutional Research, Planning, Assessment and Quality. She has been a member of SACCR since the meeting in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Dr. Gwen Aldridge - Past PresidentDr. Gwen Aldridge

Gwen Polk Aldridge presently serves as the Director of Assessment at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis. Prior to taking this position in January of 2008, she served as Director of Institutional Planning and Research and also as a mathematics instructor at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Gwen has served as Vice-President and as President of the Mississippi Collegiate Mathematics Association (MCMA), as Vice-President and President of the Mississippi Association for Institutional Research (MAIR), and as Secretary for two terms and President-Elect/Program Chair for SACCR. She has made presentations for MAIR, for the Mississippi Academy of Sciences, for MCMA, for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and at the SACS-COC Annual Meeting. She has served as a peer reviewer on seven COC Review Teams. Her paper on “Bayesian Bootstrap Methods for Developmental Studies” was published in the February 2005 issue of The Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation.

Gwen Aldridge attended Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where she earned a B.S.E. degree in Mathematics and the University of Mississippi in Oxford where she earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics, with area of concentration in Statistics. Gwen and her husband reside in Batesville, MS and are parents of two daughters and two sons. She is committed to the SACCR organization and places great value in the resources and networking opportunities that the organization provides.

Dr. Judy S. Woods - SecretaryDr. Judy S. Woods

Judy is serving a second year as treasurer for SACCR. She considers SACCR to be the premier organization for community college research. Her goals for SACCR include marketing the organization and its annual conference in order to spread awareness of the important role institutional research plays in efforts for continuous improvement and regional accreditation.

Judy is Director of Institutional Research, Effectiveness and Accountability at Itawamba Community College (ICC) in Fulton and Tupelo, Mississippi. In this role she initiated the institutional effectiveness model and led efforts to design, develop, and implement CHIEF (Connections for Higher Institutional Effectiveness for Faculty-Staff), an internet portal that includes an online planning and assessment database and reporting system. She also gave the name of ICC Planning Corps to the collective 73 directors of programs and units who are responsible for writing and assessing annual goals. As the IPEDS key holder for the college, she works diligently to stay abreast of reporting requirements and to fulfill requests for institutional data reports.

In 2001 she received the Itawamba Community College Award of Excellence, and in 2002 and 2008 the Meritorious Achievement Award. She chairs the Professional Development, Steering, STAR (Success: Together a Reality), Institutional Effectiveness, and Planning and Assessment Review Committees and is a member of the Quality Enhancement Plan Leadership Committee, SACS Leadership Team and Compliance Audit Team. She publishes the President's Annual Report as well as the ICC Institutional Effectiveness Report Card that measures IE on 16 key indicators of performance.

Judy holds memberships in the Society for College and University Planning, Southern Association of Institutional Research, Mississippi Association for Institutional Research and Leadership. She earned a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology with a minor in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University. In addition, she holds numerous technical certifications and is licensed as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute. In March 2007, Woods was appointed by the mayor of Tupelo, Mississippi to serve on the Quality of Life Task Force for the city.

Dr. Linda Serra Hagedorn –

At-Large Member for Programs and Outstanding Paper Awards
Linda Serra Hagedorn is Professor and Director of the Research Institute for Studies in Higher Education (RISE) at Iowa State University. Dr. Hagedorn’s research focuses on community college student success, retention, and transfer. She is especially interested in issues pertaining to underrepresented student groups, and equity. Prior to joining the faculty at Iowa State University, she directed the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida. She was also the Director of the Transfer and Retention of Urban Community College Students Project (TRUCCS), a longitudinal study of over 5,000 students enrolled in the Los Angeles Community College District. Although Dr. Hagedorn performs both quantitative and qualitative research, she is especially known for developing techniques to analyze enrollment and other college files. She has created new rubrics and designs for the longitudinal analyses of transcript data (transcript analysis). Her most recent published works include: Looking in the Rearview Mirror: Factors Affecting Transfer for Urban Community College Students;An Investigation of Critical Mass: The Role of Latino Representation in the Success of Urban Community College Students; and Hispanic Community College Students and the Transfer Game: Strikes, Misses, and Grand Experiences.

Linda brings to SACCR a broad background of experience in Higher Education. She recently served as Vice President for Division J of AERA. She will be working to increase the visibility of quality research, both at the regional and national level. In addition to research from our members, Linda hopes to provide more opportunities for graduate students to present their research at our regional meeting,

Deborah Josey Burks –

At-Large Member for Membership
Deborah Josey Burks, the 2008-09 SACCR Member-At-Large for Membership, is currently employed by Central Georgia Technical College as the Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness. She recently served as SACCR’s Secretary from 2005-2007. Deborah has been a member of SACCR since 1996. She is also currently a member of AIR and a former member of SAIR. Deborah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems, a diploma in Computer Information Systems, and is currently enrolled in a Masters program to attain a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration. She has two daughters, Leila-Chassity (21) and Rayven (11), as well as one granddaughter, Tangie-Alexandria, 9 months.

Deborah will be working with State Coordinators to increase membership and participation from Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness officers in their states. She will encourage attendance through a collected effort and a variety of methods such as personal letters and e-mails to potential members from the state coordinators, marketing presentations at various state meetings, and the development of extensive listserves.

Edie Carter, EditorEdith (Edie) Carder, Newsletter Editor

Edie will, once again, serve as the Editor for the SACCR Newsletter, a duty she has performed for more years than she cares to remember. A long time member of SACCR, Edie received her Ph. D. in Educational Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). When not applying the blue pencil to the SACCR newsletter, Edie serves as Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Radford University.

Lisa Kleiman, Web Master Lisa Kleiman, Web Master
Lisa Kleiman has served as director of institutional effectiveness at Tidewater Community College since 1999. Her career began at TCC in 1979 as a research associate in the Office of Institutional Research. She progressed as coordinator of institutional research, and then director. In addition to her current duties heading the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, she recently served as interim grants director for the college.

She holds a bachelor of science in business administration and a master of arts in economics from Old Dominion University.

Ms. Kleiman is a longtime member of the Southeastern Association of Community College Researchers (SACCR) and has served as chair of local arrangements for the 28th annual conference held in Norfolk, an at-large member on the SACCR Board, SACCR Virginia state coordinator, and SACCR webmaster for the last five years.
