Administrative Association:
Administrator of the Year Award

“I don't deserve this award, but I have arthritis and I don't deserve that either.” ~ Jack Benny
"People are definitely a company’s greatest asset. It doesn't make any difference whether the product is cars or cosmetics. A company is only as good as the people it keeps." ~ Mary Kay Ash

Criteria ~ 2009-10 Deadline ~ Nomination Form ~ Selection Process ~ Award Recipients

Purpose
The Administrator of the Year Award is designed to recognize an administrator who has contributed to advancing the College’s mission and goals. The award will be made to an individual who has demonstrated effective leadership in support of the College’s vision and core values.

Nominees
Nominees eligible to receive the Administrative Association Administrator of the Year Award are limited to members of the Association, as described in Section III. Part A. of the Constitution.

Nominators/Supporters
Only current members of the Administrative Association are eligible to nominate an individual for the Administrator of the Year Award. An online Nomination Form must be submitted by the nominator. AFTER a Nomination Form has been submitted by a nominator (Association member), members are encouraged to secure additional letters of support. The same online Nomination Form may be submitted by ANY full- or part-time employee (administrator, faculty, staff) or student that can attest to the nominee’s fulfillment of the award criteria shown below.

Award Criteria
The individual nominated should be a person who significantly contributes to:
* shaping and advancing the college’s mission and goal;
* promoting opportunities for leadership, training and mentoring;
* supporting the efficient and effective operation of the college; and
* fostering clear communication among College administrators, faculty, staff and students.

Application Deadline
The online Nomination Form and Letter of Support Forms must be submitted by the first Monday in each February. Completed nomination/support online forms for the 2008-2009 Administrator of the Year Award were due by February 2, 2009. The deadline for the 2009-2010 Award will be February 1, 2010.

Nomination/Support Letter Form
The Nomination Form is to be completed by the initial nominator, who must be an Association member. This form is then to be completed by any TCC stakeholder, upon request of a nominator and after the nomination form has been submitted.

Selection Process
The Chair of the Administrative Association, or designee, will perform an initial screening of all nomination material by the second Monday each February to ensure each nomination packet is complete. Nominators submitting a nomination that fails to fully comply with the required guidelines are notified by the second Monday in February, and are given 3 calendar days to resubmit the missing information prior to a second screening.

The Chair will pilot a new selection process for 2009-2010. A list of nominees, including information contained in the completed Nomination Forms, will be posted on a dedicated webpage for the review of all Assosciation members. The Chair will create an online form for members to cast their vote for a nominee by the last Friday in February. The nominee receiving the most votes will be announced and presented the award at the annual College Awards and Recognition Convocation.

Award Recipients
The award recipient is typically announced during the annual College Awards and Recognition Convocation, where the awardee is presented a plaque. According to the results from the membership survey administered in July 2008, an overwhelming majority of respondents (84%) supported the strategic allocation of funds to support the professional development efforts of our Administrator of the Year Award recipient. Therefore, in an effort to raise awareness and prestige of this worthwhile award, and in demonstration of our commitment to professional development, the Association will appropriate up to $500 to Administrator of the Year Award recipients in support of their professional development activities (subject to fund availability and in accordance with State/College funding guidelines). Award recipients are strongly encouraged to share their expertise through participation in the New Administrators Mentor Program and other initiatives.
