TCC Governance: Curriculum & Instruction Committee

Purpose
To review and recommend any academic programs; to make additions and deletions to existing programs; to recommend new courses and changes in course numbers, titles, descriptions, credit hours, and prerequisites; to review and recommend policies and procedures for the development of degree requirements for all college programs, certificates, diplomas and degrees. To review and recommend graduation requirements. To monitor and make recommendations on all issues of an instructional and/or curricular nature. Reports through the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

The Charge

  1. Participate in a mini-training session held during one of the regular Committee meetings where the Associate Vice Presidents will explain:
    1. the details of VCCS and TCC course and curriculum approval process;
    2. the criteria and parameters considered when making recommendations on curriculum-related issues;
    3. the consideration of the overarching context and purpose of the C & I Committee; and
    4. the consideration of content, logistics and timelines for Committee meetings.
  2. In conjunction with the Associate Vice President for College Transfer, Associate Vice President for Career/Technical Education, and academic deans, consider and approve course prerequisites as presented.
  3. Participate in the further development of a quality assurance system for online education.
