Instructional Technology in Teaching & Learning (ITTL) Grant:

Call for Proposals for the Academic Year 2008-2009

This Spring 2008, the ITTL selection committee will award $100,000 to fuel innovation in TCC's use of instructional technology. The Teaching Learning with Technology Committee (TLTC) encourages all whom offer an ambitious vision regarding how to innovatively and viably use technolgy, to apply for an ITTL grant.

Further, the ITTL committee welcomes new members (who will not be applying for the grants) to participate in the selection process.

ITTL competitive grants are designed to engage all faculty (including adjunct), staff and administrators in a discriminating use of instructional technology.  The fundamental ambition of these grants are to improve the teaching and learning process. Collaboration with colleagues, achievability of the project and documentation of the project's effectiveness, are points of emphasis.

The application process has two deadlines; The first deadline is for submission of a preliminary proposal on:

  • March 31st (Monday, 03/31/2008)

The next deadline is for submission of a final proposal on:

  • April 18th (Friday, 04/18/2008)

Between these two dates the ITTL selection committee may request clarification and/or suggest refinement of the proposals. Both deadlines must be satisfied to qualify for funding. All applicants will be notified of the selection committee's decisions no later than:

  • May 2nd (Friday 05/02/2008)

These dates allow purchasing codes to be assigned (and therefore for spending on projects to begin) at the start of the fiscal year on July 1. The intent is for projects to be initiated in the summer and fully implemented with the start of the fall semester.  Projects may take one or two semesters to complete.

Customize Your Grant Proposal:

There are no limitations to what can be proposed and no funding limits, so applicants can think small, large or in between.  Requests have included funding for student assistants, outside speakers, software, hardware, stipends, released time, travel and even food for special events like workshops.

All proposals will be ranked by how well, per dollar spent, the project advances TCC's long-term progress in putting instructional technology to effective and practical use. Released time will be evaluated at $650 per credit hour; if applicable release time will be added to the cost of the project proposed. Applicants are encouraged to consider stipends in lieu of released time.

Preliminary proposals should include some research toward an assessment of services that already exist.  Include in the project overview a detailed rationale for how the proposed work will advance the quality of instruction at TCC and how students will ultimately benefit.

Grantees are responsible for administering the grant money in ways consistent with TCC and VCCS policies. Please direct questions to ITTL Selection Committee Chairs:Nancy Jolemore (njolemore@tcc.edu) Mary Hanlin (mhanlin@tcc.edu) or John Morea (jmorea@tcc.edu).
