The Chesapeake campus was established in 1973 when the City of Chesapeake purchased the former Chesapeake College. The campus is located between the rapidly-growing communities of Great Bridge and Deep Creek. The George B. Pass building houses academic programs and administrative and student services. The Marian P. Whitehurst Technology Center contains classrooms, laboratories, and a conference room. This campus offers the college's horticulture, automotive, interior design, and teacher training for the developmentally disabled programs.

 

COMPLASS Placement Testing Preparation Sessions

Prepare to take the COMPASS Placement Test by attending one of our upcoming workshops.  All workshops are two hours. Please bring paper, a pencil/eraser, and a calculator to the math workshops. Please bring paper and a pen/pencil to the English workshops.

Important Summer 2011 Course Information

The TCC Chesapeake Campus is happy to announce a new foreign language course - RUSSUAN 101!  The course will be held for the first time this summer on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Class # 23148.  Instructor: Ann Rolbin.  It is much more than just learning a language. You'll learn about Russian culture, food, customs, traditions and how to do business with Russia. According to the American Chamber of Commerce in Moscow, Russia, there are more than 150 companies in Virginia alone that conduct business with Russia. By learning Russian, you increase your chances of being hired by such companies.  If you have any questions about this course, please contact Professor Rolbin at arolbin@tcc.edu. We hope to see you in class!

The campus Automotive Program received the 2008 Toyota T-TEN (Toyota Technical Education Network) Award.  The program was one of four schools recognized this year, making the program one of only two college in the countryto receive the award three times.

Shakespeare in the Grove's, Two Gentlemen of Verona, was selected as a Best Pick of Hampton Roads for the summer 2005.

The Biology Department was recognized at the Model level by the Elizabeth River Project's River Star program for the campus recycling project, control of chemical substances and attention to the flora and fauna of the campus.   The Model Level is the highest level achievable for the River Star program.

Lisa Behm accepted the Education Award from the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Award for the Biology department's environmental work which includes a butterfly garden, the nature path, and work with Game and Inland Fisheries.

The Chesapeake Campus has achieved designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), the educational division of Audubon International.  The campus is the first property in Virginia and the 45th in the world to be certified in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Business and Corporate Properties. Lisa Behm, biology professor, has led the effort to obtain sanctuary status on this property and is being recognized for Environmental Stewardship by Audubon International.

Phi Theta Kappa maintains Five Star Level designation, again being recognized with this honor at the 2009 Regional Convention.  At the 2009 Regional Convention, the chapter won the College Project Award for their work with the island preserve.  In addition, the chapter received a Hallmark Award for Scholarship and Service. Amanda Skinner received the Distinguished Member Award and Eric Abshier received the Distinguished Chapter President Award.  Melanie Vargas and Kinji Ridley were inducted into the Hall of Honors.
