Tidewater Community College Chesapeake Campus will offer six workforce preparation programs in 10 weeks or less beginning the second week of September. Classes will meet six to eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, during the sessions noted below. AUTOMOTIVE
September 14 - November 9 (41 days)
Regional Automotive Center

Prepares individuals for entry level positions to service automotive brakes and suspension systems, as well as provides preparation for the Virginia State Inspector exam and ASE 4 and 5 tests. All courses apply to a career studies certificate in Brakes and Suspension.
DIESEL TECHNOLOGY

Prepares individuals for entry level positions in diesel repair.
ELECTRICIAN'S HELPER
September 14 - October 8 (17 days)

Prepares individuals for entry level positions as an electrician’s helper. Introduces wiring methods and standards used for residential dwellings. Provides practical experience in design, layout, construction, and testing of residential wiring systems by use of scaled mock-ups. Includes interpretations of the National Electrical Code, dealing with state and local regulations for single and multi-family dwellings.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Provides students with entry-level knowledge required to work with children in an early childhood center. These core courses also meet the requirements for students to begin their CDA credentialing process. .

The Career Studies Certificate in Customer Service is a partnership with local businesses to offer course work to prepare students for careers in Customer Service. These 12 core credits prepare the stduent for employment.
