Chesapeake Campus: College in the Afternoon

What is College in the Afternoon?
  • The "College in the Afternoon" program provides an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to take college-level courses while still enrolled in high school.
  • Four or five courses will be offered each semester on weekday afternoons, and are designed to fit into high school block schedules.
  • The courses are typically transferable toward college credit.
  • Students interested in the program must meet the admissions requirements for special provision students, http://www.tcc.edu/students/admissions/adm_special.htm
  • Must satisfactorily complete the college's placement tests.
  • Students are referred to the high school guidance counselor to discuss how this program relates to their high school career.
  • Courses meet for approximately two hours, twice a week for 14 weeks.

  • ENG 111 College Composition I
  • PSY 201 Introduction to Psychology
  • HIS 121 United States History I
  • SPD 100 Principles of Public Speaking

The following courses are typically offered at the Chesapeake Campus during the spring semester:

  • ENG 111 College Composition I
  • ENG 112 College Composition II
  • HUM 246 Creative Thinking
  • HIS 122 United States History II
  • SOC 201 Introduction to Sociology I
  • MTH 158 College Algebra
