How do I apply for admission?

Applying for admission is easy. Visit http://www.tcc.edu/students/admissions/index.htm to apply online or to download the application. Applications can be submitted via fax, mail or dropped off at any campus Admissions Office.

To audit a course attend class without taking the examination or receiving credit your must obtain the permission of the appropriate academic dean (or designee) on the campus where the course is taught. You must then register for the course and pay the regular tuition. Courses your are auditing are not counted as part of your full-time or part-time status is reported to the Financial Aid Office, or to an external party such as Social Security Administration, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Veterans Administration, an employer, or health insurance carrier.

to the topHow do I request my transcripts or letters of verification?

Letters of verification:

  • Certifications are letters or forms verifying your enrollment status for health and auto insurance companies, military Ids, scholarships, job applications, promotion packages, etc. These requests normally take seven to fourteen working days to process, or longer during heavy registration periods or grade processing time. Contact campus Enrollment Services Office to request certification.
  • You must present your picture ID to pick up transcripts or certifications. If you are sending a third party to pick up a document, the college must have WRITTEN permission from you to give the item to the third party. That person must present his or her picture ID.
  • Please feel free to contact Enrollment Services for information and assistance with transcripts and certifications.

What type of services are available if I need assistance with a class?

You can always speak with your instructor if you need assistance with a course. Instructors are required to have office hours and are available to assist you. The campus also has a Tutoring Center . They offer walk-in service (no appointments) and provide tutors in most subjects. Anyone is welcome although TCC students have priority. Come early, come often. We have a writing center, math resources (practice sheets, videos, textbooks for reference), computers for word processing or research, and the foreign language lab. If a tutor is not available in a specific subject, the staff will work with you to make a recommendation.

The Tutoring Center at the Chesapeake Campus is a FREE, walk-in service available to all students. Tutors are available in a variety of subject areas. Graduation applications are available each semester and can be picked up at the Welcome Center , Counseling Office or Enrollment Services Office. A traditional semester lasts for 16 weeks. We are able to offer some courses as 8-week session courses. These courses will either start at the beginning of the semester and last for 8 weeks or will begin at the middle of the semester and conclude at the end of the semester, also lasting for 8 weeks.

What is a hybrid course?

A hybrid course combines traditional in-class learning with web-based instruction. Courses typically meet once a week in the traditional classroom setting and other work is completed online through the Blackboard system. Schedule of classes

When does the schedule book for next semester come out?

Schedule books are mailed to the home address approximately 3 or 4 weeks before priority registration begins. Copies will be available on campus approximately one week after schedule books are mailed. To access the schedule online, visit http://www.tcc.edu/students/schedules/index.htm .
