MEET THE NORFOLK CAMPUS PROVOST

On August 1, 2006, Dr. Kajstura came to Tidewater Community College Norfolk Campus from Daytona Beach Community College in Florida, where he served for eight years, first as district-wide dean of the School of Business and Technologies and, most recently, as provost of the college’s two largest branch campuses. His expertise is in the areas of academic programs and facilities development, innovative program delivery and technology in education, including online programs.

A lifelong educator who has served in five community colleges in three states, Dr. Kajstura has a reputation for facilitating partnerships with K-12 school districts and with public and private universities. He has successfully applied for several million dollars of federal and state grants for his institutions. Under his leadership, the Florida Information Technology Education Center was created and funded by a multimillion-dollar grant from the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Kajstura is known for taking an active role in the communities in which he resides and works. In Florida, he has served on the boards of directors of the Greater DeLand Chamber of Commerce and the DeLand YMCA. He has also served on the boards of the Advisory Council of the Area Center for Educational Enhancement at Florida Atlantic University and the Daytona Beach Business Incubator. He is a member of Rotary Club International, the National Council of Instructional Administrators and the Post-Doctoral Academy of Higher Education. He has served on many statewide and local committees in Florida, including regional director for the Florida Association of Community Colleges (FACC) and chair of the Workforce Development Education Commission for FACC.

Dr. Kajstura holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Silesian University in Poland, a master’s degree in business administration from LeTourneau University in Texas, a master’s degree in science in organic chemistry from Texas Tech University, and a doctorate in higher education from Southern Illinois University.
