An incomprehensible, senseless act of violence occurred today on the campus of Virginia Tech--a tragedy of "monumental proportion," to quote President Charles Steger. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the University's faculty, staff, and students.
In addition to placing a message of support on our website, we have established a special email account to provide members of the TCC community the opportunity to offer words of comfort and condolence to our Virginia Tech colleagues and fellow students. The address is ThoughtsforVirginiaTech@tcc.edu and will be active through May 1st. Messages will be collected for electronic forwarding to Tech's president, Faculty Senate chair, and SGA president.
Further, all four of the college's campuses will incorporate a remembrance piece (to include a moment of silence) into the readings scheduled as a part of this week's Literary Festival. Our campus counselors are available for members of the college community who need to talk about (or through) this tragedy. Just stop by the Counseling Center at any of our four campuses.
And in the common bond of learning, we find comfort.
