Administrator Professional Development

Professional development is described as a continuous process of acquiring new knowledge and skills that relate to one's profession, job responsibilities, or work environment. Ideally, it encompasses a wide variety of specialized training, formal education, or advanced professional learning opportunities intended to help administrators improve their professional knowledge, competence, skill, and effectiveness. Professional development and learning opportunities are offered in the workplace or through outside organizations, which include, but not limited to: credentials such as academic degrees, coursework, conferences, webinars, etc. 

In an effort to support TCC administrators, professional development funds are available to assist with financial costs associated with attending and/or participating in such learning opportunities. Please see below for instructions on how to apply for Administrative Association Professional Development funds.

In addition to department and Provost discretionary funds, administrators have access to the Administrator Professional Development Fund.

Administrator Professional Development Fund (APDF)

The Administrative Association strategically allocates a significant portion of its annual budget toward funding the individual training needs of its constituents.

The TCC Administrative Association's monies may be used for the following activities:

  1. enroll in coursework offered by an accredited institution of higher education; HR 78 - Employee Educational Assistance Request PDF form and HR 79 - Employee Professional Development Plan PDF forms are required to accompany funding request. Forms available on Inside TCC, login required.
  2. attend a professional conference, workshop or institute sponsored by TCC or an external organization; Upon award employees must begin the authorization process in the Travel System.
  3. host a professional development event for the benefit of TCC or an external organization; and/or
  4. join a professional organization.


Administrators may seek APDF monies by submitting the online Administrator Professional Development Funding Request Form during an open application period/window.

The Administrative Association currently has not established a maximum amount to be requested. Priority in the dispersal of funds will be given to active members, those who have not received ADPF in previous years, and for activities that provide value-added benefits to the applicant, college, and/or profession.

Training and development

The Employee Training & Development section within TCC’s Office of Human Resources provides opportunities for continuous learning. Administrators can also support their professional development needs through the vast array of programs and services offered through the Faculty Professional Development program and the Libraries.
