Tidewater Community College’s Career Studies Certificate in Administrative Assistant trains you for one of the most varied occupations in business today.

Graduates can become general office assistants, file clerks or administrative support assistants in fields such as business, government, health care and education.

Instructors provide a solid foundation in basic administrative skills, such as keyboarding, records and database management, word processing and business communications, as well as advanced coursework in specialized software applications and office administration.

Graduates leave with a comprehensive knowledge of how to support a business with effective communication, processing of data, maintaining of records and effective decision making.

Online course offerings make the coursework flexible for busy schedules and students in the program have the opportunity to earn academic credit while gaining work experience.

The career studies certificate program also acts as an ideal refresher for those returning to the field, or as a means of upgrading skills for professional advancement.
