Steps to Enrolling

You must first complete a TCC Application and submit your application for admission to Tidewater Community College.
You may be eligible for financial aid. Title IV Financial Aid is available for permanent residents and US citizens who qualify. Contact the
Financial Aid Office for details on eligibility and application procedures.
Veterans benefits may also be used to pay for ESL courses. Contact the
VA Office at your home campus for details.

Take the ESL Placement Test. You may want to view sample questions for this test. New students take the ESL Placement Test at a Testing Center.

After you have taken the ESL Placement Test, you must meet with a Counselor in the Princess Anne Building, who will review your scores and determine the classes you will take. ESL students are not able to enroll without first meeting with a Counselor.
The next step is to register for the courses you will take.  Registration is in the Princess Anne Building.
The last step is to pay for your classes at the Business Office, which is also located in the Princess Anne Building.
If you have college credit from a school in your country, you may want to have your foreign college transcripts evaluated.

Students are encouraged to purchase the books for their courses before the first day of class. In addition, students should keep their receipts in case they must return the books for any reason.

10. Attend an ESL Student Orientation session.
