Tidewater Community College’s Career Studies Certificate in Maritime Technologies is designed to get you into – or advancing in – the maritime field as quickly as possible so you can take advantage of these new and exciting job opportunities.
You will gain familiarization with basic ship construction and ship processes and techniques, various ship systems and the basic knowledge and terminology.
TCC’s maritime technologies program prepares you for entry or advancement in the maritime industry as an electrician, electronics technician, inside machinist, outside machinist, pipefitter, rigger, painter, carpenter, shipfitter, welder or sheetmetal worker. Graduates typically work in marinas, shipyards and boatyards or aboard ships.

TCC’s career studies certificate in maritime technologies consists of 2 semesters of full-time study, with classes held mainly at the Chesapeake, Portsmouth or Virginia Beach campuses.
If your schedule doesn't permit full-time attendance, you may also take classes part time.
