Interested in project management, computer programming or diagnosing the problem with a heating or cooling system? Tidewater Community College’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Maintenance Technology (HVAC/R) program will train you for an array of job opportunities in the most in-demand technical field, both in Virginia and across the nation.
You don’t necessarily have to get hot and sweaty on the job, either. While maintenance and diagnosis are parts of the field, HVAC/R is an energy management business that needs all kinds of people.

TCC's associate degree in HVAC/R consists of 4 semesters of full-time study, with classes held mainly on the Portsmouth Campus.
If your schedule doesn't permit full-time attendance, you may also take classes part time.
Estimated Program Cost*:
68 credits x $181.10 per credit = $12,314.80 (not including textbooks and supplies)
*Based on Fall 2017 in-state tuition. Your actual cost may differ.
While nearly all students find employment with an associate degree, you can pursue a bachelor’s degree in HVAC/R, project management or another related field at a 4-year institution.
