Join the Intercultural Learning Center for an evening of reflection, theater and tango music. Dr. Gabriela Christie Toletti, playwright Dino Armas, Dr. Juan Raúl Ferreira, and other distinguished guests will present the book On the Scene with Migration and Dictatorship: An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Work of Uruguayan Playwright Dino Armas. Following a discussion of the main topics and issues analyzed in this book, scenes from Armas’s plays and tangos mentioned in the book will be performed.

Authored and compiled by Dr. Gabriela Christie Toletti, this book includes several works from the recognized Uruguayan Author Dino Armas which address issues of migration and dictatorship as well as interpretive essays written by authors who specialize in Latin American literature, theater, psychology, and history. Examining this group of texts is a way to enter Armas’s world in order to inquire into Hispanic and universal human conflicts. This book constitutes a shared stage of reflection, analysis, collaboration, and affection towards the great Dino Armas, Hispanic culture, and a universal multicultural heritage.

A book signing and reception will follow the event.

Planetarium Show-“Out There: The Search for Exoplanets”

Show synopsis: The story of how human curiosity has driven us to look outwards to discover and explore new and distance worlds. Suitable for family audiences.

This program is free and open to the public. The total presentation will be approximately 50 minutes long. Reservations are required! There will be, however, a very limited number of standby tickets available at the planetarium on the day of the show. You must arrive at least 15 minutes early to guarantee your reservation.

Specifications of the planetarium:
-The TCC Planetarium is a state of the art Digistar 5 system housed in a 40 ft dome with 88 permanent seats. It produces an all-sky image.
-Each performance also includes a review of the night sky.
-Wheelchair accessible (please contact the TCC Information Center for accommodations).

Show Synopsis: “This production is a laser light show, accompanied by rock music. Great artists like John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash, just to name a few, come into our lives only to depart far too soon, leaving behind a musical legacy. This production pays homage to some of these great artists whose music has touched and inspired us all.”
