Our civil engineering technology program is a hands-on curriculum designed to move you directly into the engineering field in supporting roles as an engineering technician, construction inspector, or land surveyor. Taught by expert faculty with real experience in the field, your courses will provide practical knowledge and expertise in civil drafting, civil materials, building fundamentals, surveying, soils, and fluid mechanics. You can also take practical electives in drafting, environmental engineering, concrete, construction, surveying, and geographic information systems.

Associate of Applied Science - Civil Engineering Technology

Whether you want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or enter the workforce as an engineering technician, this program is the first step toward an exciting future in civil engineering technology, construction, structural design, consulting engineering, surveying, and land development industries. Career Studies Certificate - Construction Project Management

Master the essentials of construction management, and techniques with a Career Studies Certificate in Construction Project Management. Areas of study include building codes, construction fundamentals, construction project management, scheduling, estimating, and OSHA 30 construction safety. You’ll gain the skills necessary to oversee both residential and commercial construction.

Career Studies Certificate - Land Surveying

This comprehensive program is available entirely online and covers topics including fundamental and advanced surveying theory and application, GPS surveying, geographic information systems, and surveying law. This is an approved apprentice program recognized by the commonwealth’s Department of Professional and Occupation Regulation. Graduates are prepared to take the Virginia Fundamentals of Surveying Examination.

Graduates of the land surveying certificate program will be prepared for an entry-level position in the surveying field and to take the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.
