Equal parts lecture and hands-on learning, Tidewater Community College’s HVAC/R program trains students for a gamut of job opportunities in a field that has the highest demand for new workers—in Virginia and across the nation. The demand is enormous, and every year, it gets bigger. Learn the basic science of HVAC/R in state-of-the-art laboratories with equipment that ranges from small residential to light commercial.

Associate of Applied Science - HVAC/R

Prepare to repair, maintain, and service HVAC systems by supervising and assigning work according to building codes and standards. You'll train to conduct routine inspections and supervise repairs and/or maintenance to HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Ready yourself for in-demand HVAC/R technician jobs working on residential or commercial air conditioning systems, or for positions as a sales representative or a control services technician. You’ll study the fundamentals of air conditioning and refrigeration systems in addition to duct construction and maintenance, hydronics, and applied technical mathematics.

Additional Program Information:

Graduates of the associate degree program will obtain the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) industry certification.
