Transfer Credits to TCC from an International College or University

Students who have earned college credit or a degree from a college or university outside the United States and would like to transfer those credits to TCC should follow the process outlined below. (PLEASE NOTE: This process only applies to foreign college transcripts).
What is the International Transfer evaluation process?
1. Apply for College admission.
2. Have your international transcript evaluated by a member agency of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
a. Instruct your NACES agency to mail the official evaluation report to the Office of the Registrar at TCC:
Office of the College Registrar
Tidewater Community College
Princess Anne Building A
1700 College Crescent, Suite +115
Virginia Beach, VA 23453
b. Students must request a course-by-course analysis from a NACES Agency which must include a course syllabus or
course outline. Do not request a document-by-document analysis; this will not be accepted, per TCC policy.
3. Register for classes. We recommend seeking the assistance of an Academic Advisor to choose appropriate courses. If you have received your NACES evaluation report, bring it to your Academic Advisor so you can be properly placed into classes. You must be currently enrolled at TCC and in a curricular program before your credits can be evaluated.
4. Complete the Request for Transfer Evaluation Form.
Students should not send international transcripts directly to TCC, the Office of the College Registrar, or the Office of International Student Services. They will not be accepted. TCC only accepts an official evaluation completed by a NACES member agency.
If your credits are not accepted by TCC, you may appeal the decision by completing the Transfer Evaluation Appeal Process which includes submitting your course syllabi for review by a Pathway Dean. All syllabi must be in English for TCC course credit. Students are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor for guidance.
