What is the Workforce Recruitment Program?
The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) connects public and private employers with highly motivated undergraduates, graduate students and recent graduates who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. The WRP provides individuals opportunities to market their abilities to a wide variety of potential employers across the United States, sharpen their interviewing skills, gain valuable work experience and establish job contacts. The WRP is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Diversity Management & Equal Opportunity (ODMEO) with support from other federal agencies.
How does the program work?
During October and November 2018, WRP recruiters will be conducting phone interviews with applicants who wish to be entered into the WRP employment database. The database will include contact information, degree, major, GPA, job location preference, interview notes, resume, transcripts, and potential accommodation needs for students who receive an acceptable evaluation during the interview process. In December 2018, the database will be opened to all employers registered with WRP nationwide. Both federal employers and private companies hire candidates from the database throughout the year for summer/temporary or permanent positions across the United States and abroad. Students will only be notified if they are accepted into the database if they are contacted by a potential employer.
Who is eligible?
Applicants for the WRP program must:
- Have a disability that allows for Schedule A* eligibility
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be enrolled in at least 12 credits OR have graduated within the past year. (Students who graduated after April 2017 are eligible for the WRP)
- Have a minimum of a 2.5 G.P.A.
* To be Schedule A eligible, you will need to meet any one of the following criteria:
- Registered with and/or receive accommodations through the Office of Educational Accessibility.
- Received Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
- Diagnosed with a medical condition that is treated by a mental health professional such as a learning disability, attention deficit disorder, anxiety disorder, etc.
- Identified as needing services through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Received services in elementary or high school through an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 plan.
- Received vocational rehabilitation services.
- Covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) and/or the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended definitions of an individual with a disability.
** To be eligible for appointment via Schedule A, candidates must be able to provide supporting documentation, referred to as a Schedule A Letter. Unfortunately, Educational Accessibility Counselors cannot complete Schedule A Letters. However, the letter may be completed by a licensed medical professional, licensed vocational rehabilitation counselor, or any agency that provides disability benefits. Although candidates may not need to provide a Schedule A letter until later in the hiring process, having it upfront will improve the chances of being hired quickly. A sample Schedule A Letter is sent to your TCC email once you have registered for WRP and been approved.
What is the application process?
- Online registration is open from August 27, 2018 through October 15, 2018. Candidates must register through the WRP Student Self-Registration page. All registrations must be approved by the College-wide Coordinator before candidates can complete their applications. Candidates may be contacted by the College-wide Coordinator to confirm their eligibility. Once a candidate’s registration is approved, they will receive an email with a username and temporary password and may begin the application process.

- Candidates can log into the Online Application Page using their username and temporary password. Items to be obtained and/or completed by the candidate and submitted online prior to the interview include:
(Required) Resume - Word documents are required
(Required) College Transcript(s) - Official or unofficial transcripts or copies of transcripts are acceptable. Word or other text documents are strongly encouraged.
(Optional) Any additional supporting documents, such as letters of recommendation, writing samples, Schedule A Letter, etc. All documents must be uploaded to the Manage Documents Page of the online application in order for a candidate’s application to be complete. Applications must be completed by October 15, 2018.
- After registration has been approved and all application materials have been uploaded, the College-wide Coordinator will contact candidates to coordinate scheduling and prepare them for phone interviews. Interviews will take place October 27, 2018 through November 17, 2018.
