Chesapeake CampUS: FACULTY and staff ACCOMPLISHMENTS

We congratulate our faculty and staff for the following accomplishments.

Scott Carlson - Spring 2009 tax class prepared over 100 income tax returns for lower-income residents, free of charge.

Kelly Gillerlain - Co-published "Strategic blunders are not necessarily failures." Effective Executive, 83-86. September 2008. (with Paul Carr).
Robert Guess - Coauthored "Malicious Code", "Biometric Authentication", "Protecting Digital Rights: Technical Approaches", and "Anonymity and Identity in Cyberspace" for the Fifth Edition of the "Computer Security Handbook", a classic text in the field that has been in continuous publication since 1973.

Beno Rubin - Won the East Coast Honda Challenge (ECHC) H5 Championship in 2007.

David Lee  - Won the 2008 East Coast Honda Challenge (ECHC) H4 Championship.

Carole Whitener

  • Recieved the Anchor Award from Children's Harbor, given for contributions made over a lifetime of service on behalf of the children and families of South Hampton Roads.
  • Helped to prepare the School Readiness Checklist published by Smart Beginnings SHR which can be found on their website www.smartbeginningsshr.org or picked up at a local library.

Lynn Rainard - As president of the Communal Studies Association, an international organization that studies "intentional communities," such as the Shakers, Dr. Rainard shepherded the adoption of a second issue of the annual journal, Communal Societies.

Douglas Thiele - His story, “The Piano” was recently published in “The Taj Mahal Review” in India, and his latest chapbook of poetry, “Like Chinese Milk,” is available on Amazon.com. His latest broadside, “Walking On God,” was published in limited edition in late 2008.
