Tidewater Community College’s Career Studies Certificate in Land Surveying offers a comprehensive curriculum in topographic drafting, surveying, geographic information systems, Virginia coordinate systems and Virginia rules, status and surveying law.
TCC’s land surveying program is an approved apprentice program recognized by the commonwealth’s Department of Professional and Occupation Regulation and its board, which governs architects, professional engineers, land surveyors, certified interior designers and landscape architects.
Apply all the credits you earn in this program to TCC's Associate of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology.
Certify your skills
Earn valuable industry credentials. Students in this program who have at least six years of work experience can sit for the Fundamentals of Surveying exam. Passing the exam gives you the State Land Surveyors-in-Training (LSIT) designation.

Virginia Association of Surveyors
Scholarships are available to land surveying students through the Virginia Association of Surveyors, which also offers students free membership.
TCC's Career Studies Certificate in Land Surveying consists of 2 semesters of full-time study, with classes held mainly at the Advanced Technology Center on the Virginia Beach Campus.
If your schedule doesn't permit full-time attendance, you may also take classes part time.

The Career Studies Certificate in Land Surveying prepares students to take the Virginia Land Surveyors-in-Training Examination.
