Accreditation
Tidewater Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award the associate degree. Tidewater Community College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund
In May 2020, TCC disbursed CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds to 5,315 students who were enrolled in Spring 2020, whose education was disrupted by COVID-19.

Crime Statistics
Tidewater Community College is committed to campus safety. As part of this, TCC maintains a commitment to Clery Act compliance and the disclosure of crime and security statistics. The college’s Annual Security Report, including current crime statistics, is readily available to the public along with other Clery Act compliance information. Daily crime logs are maintained in each campus provost’s office; a college-wide summary is published online.
Freedom of Information Act
The Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), located § 2.2-3700 et seq. of the Code of Virginia, guarantees citizens of the Commonwealth and representatives of the media access to public records held by public bodies, public officials, and public employees. Freedom of Speech

Expressive Activity
Tidewater Community College’s properties are primarily dedicated to academic, student life, and administrative functions. It also represents the “marketplace of ideas,” and especially for students, many areas of the campus represent a public forum for speech and other expressive activities. Title Vi
Tidewater Community College (TCC) gives public notice of its policy to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex, age, national origin, and/or disability.
It is also TCC’s practice to prohibit discrimination based on income status, and/or limited English proficiency (LEP) as addressed in Title VI.
Further, no person shall be excluded from participating in or be denied the benefit of services, programs, or activities or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which Tidewater Community College (TCC) receives Federal financial assistance.
