Academy for Nonprofit Excellence, Volunteer HR partner on new collaborative

The 757 Nonprofit Collaborative (757NPC) unites Volunteer Hampton Roads – a full-service management support organization for nonprofits – with Tidewater Community College’s Academy for Nonprofit Excellence – which offers professional development programs focused on the latest trends and best practices for nonprofit personnel.

The 757NPC “will strengthen the individual missions of each organization to better serve the nonprofit sector through the sharing of information, ideas, resources and planning initiatives,” said TCC President Edna V. Baehre-Kolovani at the launch of the initiative during a breakfast on July 8 at the Joint-Use Library on the Virginia Beach Campus.

“Collaborating with Volunteer Hampton Roads is a no-brainer,” said Lisa Peterson, coordinator of the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence. “Our missions are uniquely distinct yet go hand in glove. Together we can provide opportunities to the nonprofit community that would be challenging to deliver independently of one another. For that reason alone, the collaborative makes sense. We’re also having a lot of fun serving those who provide services and resources critical to the health and vitality of our community.”

Peterson and Kate Meechan, executive director of Volunteer Hampton Roads, introduced 32 nonprofit chief executive officers, all of whom recently assumed significant leadership roles in the nonprofit sector. Here is the list of those who were honored; each received an office survival kit – chocolate bar included.
