Open house Nov. 15 at all TCC campuses

Tidewater Community College will host an informative and activity-filled open house on its four campuses on Saturday, Nov. 15.

“Three of five TCC students graduate with no student debt,” said Charles Lepper, vice president for student affairs. “We want everyone to visit our campuses and learn why TCC is a smart college choice.”

 All are invited to the open house, especially

  • Spring 2015 high school graduates contemplating next steps in their education;
  • adults wanting to start a degree, finish a degree, learn a new field or advance in their careers; and
  • active-duty military and veterans looking to leverage their military experience in pursuit of higher education. Spouses are also encouraged to attend.
  • The open house will be from 9 a.m. to noon in the student centers on each of TCC’s campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach. Students will be able to apply to TCC; learn about financial aid, grants and scholarships; tour the campuses; explore academic programs; and learn about campus life.

“If you haven’t been on a TCC campus recently, you haven’t been to TCC,” Lepper said. “Ours is one of the very few community colleges with beautiful, full-service student centers.”

TCC accepts applications year-’round. Those who apply now and complete the federal financial aid application could have their financial aid eligibility determined by the time spring semester classes begin on Jan. 12.

TCC has transfer agreements with many in-state colleges, public and private, that allow a student to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree and then finish at a four-year institution. In addition, programs prepare students for in-demand careers in health care, information systems, the maritime industries and many other fields.
