President Kolovani to speak at Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice graduation on Nov. 6

Tidewater Community College President Edna Baehre-Kolovani will be the keynote speaker at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice graduation and awards ceremony.

The ceremony will be held on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk.

The 164 graduates, representing 23 trades across the shipyard, completed coursework at TCC as part of a four-year training program designed to attract students to employment with the federal government. Students participate in a challenging program that combines academics taught at TCC’s Portsmouth Campus, trade theory and on-the-job experience to become skilled journeymen.

Upon graduation, the apprentices receive a Technician Career Studies Certificate and are part of the workforce at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, the fourth largest employer in Hampton Roads.
