TCC again recognized as a top school for military
In its December issue, Military Advanced Education designates TCC a Top School in its 2015 Guide to Military Friendly Colleges & Universities, which measures best practices in military support services. TCC received its highest scores in the areas of military culture, on-campus support, general support, online support, financial assistance and flexibility. More than 600 institutions were surveyed for the guide.
“The military is an integral part of the community in Hampton Roads, and we want to make sure we’re providing the best services for them, given all the sacrifices they have made for us,” said Bruce Brunson, executive director of TCC’s Center for Military and Veterans Education (CMVE). Established in 2011, the CMVE is a comprehensive clearinghouse for academic and student support services located on all four campuses and the area’s major military instillations.
The college served 14,343 military-affiliated students during the 2013-14 academic year, including veterans, active duty, reserves, National Guard, Coast Guard and family members.
TCC also received recognition last summer as “Veteran Friendly” from the American Council on Education and was named a Military Friendly school by Victory Media, Inc., publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse.
The Military Times ranked TCC third nationally among two-year schools in its Best for Vets: Colleges 2015 Rankings.
