TCC earns more recognition for being a military-friendly school

Tidewater Community College earned the 2017 Bronze-level Military Friendly School designation by Victory Media.

Each year, the list of Military Friendly Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.

Active-duty military, reservists, National Guard, veterans and their families make up about one-third of the college’s enrollment.

TCC’s designation will be noted along with other 2017 Military Friendly Schools in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools, special education issues of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse Magazine, and on militaryfriendly.com.

Victory Media, originator of the family of Military Friendly employment, entrepreneurship and education resources for veterans and their families, published its special awards for 2017 Military Friendly Schools and Employers at militaryfriendly.com.

“All of our Military Friendly award recipients set the standard for excellence,” said Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media. “They offer exceptional examples of what it means not just to build a program that meets federal requirements, but one that serves the military and veteran community from classrooms to careers.”

In addition, TCC is ranked 12th nationally among two-year schools in the Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 rankings released by Military Times on Nov. 1. The editorially independent news project evaluates the factors that make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.

TCC also earned designation as a Top School by Military Advanced Education and Transition (MAE&T) in its 2017 Guide to Colleges and Universities.
