2017 Diverse Issues Ranking

Tidewater Community College continues to receive national recognition in awarding degrees to African-American students.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education releases annual rankings that list the Top 100 producers of associate, bachelor’s and graduate degrees for minority students.

TCC ranks 17th in conferring associate degrees to African-American students, one spot higher than a year ago. More than 25 percent of the college’s graduates are African Americans.

“It’s gratifying to be recognized for TCC’s unwavering commitment to diversity,” said President Edna V. Baehre-Kolovani. “Providing opportunities to African Americans and other minorities remains a core value of the college.”

TCC is tied for the No. 1 spot in conferring associate degrees to African Americans in business and social sciences.

The magazine used U.S. Department of Education data from 2015-16 for its Top 100 lists.
