Well-dressed students and eager employers participated in Tidewater Community College’s 2012 Job Fair at the Advanced Technology Center on the Virginia Beach Campus.

The City of Virginia Beach, Earl Industries, LLC, Gold Key Resorts, InMotion Hosting, Sentara Medical Group and TFC Recycling were among more than 60 companies that set up booths with hiring information. Students toted around plastic bags full of company portfolios and filled out applications on the spot.

“This has been really helpful,” said TCC student Chane Wilson, already an LPN who is taking prerequisite classes toward her bachelor’s degree.  “The employers actually allowed us to communicate with them and they told us what we needed to do to get employment.”

Early Childhood Education major Leslie Scott said she came away with several good leads on jobs. “I was able to get a lot of resumes out today,” she said.

Many of the employers said they were impressed by the students’ professionalism and communication skills.

“Everyone has been very pleasant and very prepared,” said Geico recruiter Fred Dart. Students seeking job placement can contact Career and Employment Services on the Virginia Beach Campus.
