TCC professor Sean LaCroix receives award of excellence

LaCroix, a Virginia Beach resident, will be recognized during an awards celebration to be held during the NISOD International Conference May 23 in Austin, Texas.
 
LaCroix was named TCC’s Professor of the Year Award for 2014. He joined TCC in 2006 to follow his passion for teaching. “I enjoy interacting with students, learning about their dreams and helping them accomplish them, even if in some small way,” he said. LaCroix developed a new course for the college, International Economics (ECO 210), and is a member of the faculty team for the “Z-Degree” – “z” for TCC’s unique zero-textbook degree program in business management and administration.
 
He directed a U.S. Department of Education grant project designed to globalize TCC’s business degree. He serves as a new faculty mentor and a faculty general education assessment grader. He also works with the Richmond Federal Reserve and is a self-proclaimed lifelong learner who routinely takes courses at Old Dominion University to enhance his knowledge and generate more content for the classroom.
 
Created in 1978, NISOD is a membership organization committed to promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges.
 
Today, using their own criteria, NISOD Member Colleges submit the names of men and women to be recognized with Excellence Awards based on their demonstration of outstanding commitment and contribution to students and colleagues.
