TCC receives $30,000 grant for renewable energy outreach project

Tidewater Community College was awarded a $30,000 grant from Dominion Resources and the Dominion Foundation for the development of a mobile energy project during the 2013-14 academic year.

The grant will enable the college to develop “Renewable Energy on the Move,” an educational outreach project. The traveling exhibit will serve to educate students, faculty and the community about the need for renewable energy sources.

“We are thrilled about this opportunity to take renewable energy information to middle schools and the general public,” said Thomas Stout, program head for the renewable energy technologies certificate.

Dominion Resources’ charitable foundation is awarding more than $600,000 in educational grants to 61 Virginia schools. The Richmond-based energy provider says the grants will help fund projects in renewable energy, environmental studies, engineering and Workforce Solutions.
