TCC Roper Center and Generic Theater present “Frost/Nixon” April 21-23

Tidewater Community College’s Roper Performing Arts Center, in association with the Generic Theater, presents “Frost/Nixon,” Peter Morgan’s celebrated play about power, corruption, the presidency and the media.

The play chronicles a series of 1977 television interviews between British talk show host David Frost and disgraced former president Richard Nixon. Ron Howard directed a 2008 film of the same name that starred Michael Sheen as Frost and Frank Langella as Nixon.

Two Generic Theater veterans take the roles in the Roper production.

Terry Jernigan (Richard Nixon) studied theater at Shenandoah and Old Dominion universities and teaches film-related studies at The Governor’s School for the Arts. His film credits include the soon-to-be-released “40 Nights,” in which he plays John the Baptist.

C. Anthony Robinson (David Frost) is returning to the stage after three years behind the scenes, directing shows such as “The Pillowman” at Generic Theater. Previous acting credits include “The Philadelphia Story” at Little Theatre of Norfolk, “Opus, Arcadia” and “Cryptogram” at Generic, and “Peter Pan” with Virginia Musical Theatre.

All performances will be held in the TCC Roper Center, 340 Granby St., in downtown Norfolk. The intimate, on-stage studio setting, which puts theatergoers close to the action, seats only 100 per performance.

Performances are:

  • April 21 at 7:30 p.m.
  • April 22 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
  • April 23 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Current TCC students are admitted for $5. Tickets for the general public are $20 and non-TCC students can buy tickets for $10.

Tickets can be purchased one hour before show time at the TCC Roper Center box office or online.
