TCC’s Academy for Nonprofit Excellence names new coordinator

Lloyd was an adjunct professor at TCC for a decade, teaching history and humanities courses. In addition, she worked for the City of Norfolk for nine years, building volunteer and employee engagement and multicultural programs. The position allowed her to engage with boards and nonprofit groups to enhance services for the community.

The Academy for Nonprofit Excellence serves the professional development needs of nonprofit organizations in Hampton Roads, offering relevant, budget-friendly training on a spectrum of leadership, management and operations topics. The academy is funded by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.

“I have a deep love for nonprofits that do so much to make our community a better place,” Lloyd said.

“My goal is to collaborate with our nonprofit organizations throughout Hampton Roads to provide enriched training and developmental opportunities for nonprofit professionals,” she said.

Prior to her position with the city, Lloyd worked in outreach and marketing at Old Dominion University.

She holds a master’s in humanities from ODU and a bachelor’s in history and communication studies from Longwood University.

Lisa Peterson, the former coordinator for the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence, is now associate vice president for professional development solutions at TCC’s Center for Workforce Solutions.
