Tidewater Community College’s collision repair program has received a $10,000 boost from Nationwide Insurance through the Collision Repair Education Foundation.

“We are greatly appreciative of Nationwide and the Collision Repair Education Foundation for their support of our program,” said Beno Rubin, director of TCC’s Regional Automotive Center (RAC). “This donation will help provide the necessary tools and equipment needed to deliver a modern, high-quality collision repair training program.”

TCC’s collision repair program, which is housed in the Chesapeake Public School’s Center for Science and Technology, prepares students for entry-level positions in non-structural repair and refinishing.

During the day, Chesapeake high school students study collision repair technology with a TCC professor and earn dual enrollment credit. At night, TCC offers classes to students seeking collision repair training at the same location.

Upon completion of the program, all students obtain I-CAR Pro Level 1 and 2 in Non-Structural Repair and Refinishing, both industry-recognized certifications.

“We appreciate the many levels of support we receive from companies in support of students, including military men and women, in collision technology education,” said Clark Plucinski, executive director of the Collision Repair Education Foundation.
