U.S. Cabinet member visits TCC Jan. 12

TCC President Deborah M. DiCroce welcomed U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis for a visit on Jan. 12. The Secretary and her team included the college in a regional visit, receiving an overview on TCC’s comprehensive programs, advances and initiatives. TCC leadership also gave an update on the $24.1 million grant for health-career training led by TCC for a state-wide program with community colleges, and students had an opportunity to speak with Solis.

President DiCroce greeted Secretary Solis at the Portsmouth Campus as she arrived with Congressman Bobby Scott. Provost Michelle Woodhouse led the group through Building A for a presentation by Dr. DiCroce on TCC’s comprehensive programs and strategic partnerships and initiatives.

Students spoke with the Secretary, eager to share their goals, and were delighted by her supportive comments.

Secretary Solis and her team listened to the president and executive staff discuss the college and the DOL grant for health-career training.

Dr. DiCroce presented Secretary Solis with an engraved Jefferson cup and TCC’s Acts of Optimism book to commemorate her visit.
